Leicester are reportedly planning to give Brendan Rodgers more time to turn his career at Foxes after a dismal start to the Premier League season led many to believe he was destined to be sacked. A 6-2 loss at the hands of Tottenham this weekend was the club’s sixth consecutive defeat, as they remained under the top English side in their first international break of the year.
Leicester are in appalling form at the moment, with just one point all season, a record meaning they have endured their worst ever start in the Premier League. Their defensive record has been a particular concern as they have scored 22 goals to date, while the decision to allow legend Kasper Schmeichel to leave the club has been widely criticized as Danny Ward failed to impress since he stepped into the number 1 spot.
Still, recent achievements are largely at odds with what Rodgers has achieved previously with the club. The Foxes took consecutive fifth-place finishes during his first two seasons as leaders, while they still managed a respectable eighth-place finish last season when the toll of an extensive European campaign hit the players.
In addition, Midland’s side claimed the FA Cup for the first time in their history in 2021, before following the Community Shield. They were both huge highlights in Ulsterman’s reign thus far.

It seems this past success has been enough to give Rodgers more time to turn things around. The Athletic report that he will at least get the next game against East Midlands rival Nottingham Forest. The club’s board believe they’ve had a tougher start to the season than most, with four out of the big six, and are about to start a more positive run of games.
He has also faced a difficult transfer window losing Schmeichel and then star defender Wesley Fofana to Chelsea. The club were unable to look for new faces as they struggled under the weight of financial fair play rules meaning Wout Faes was the only notable arrival on the day of arrival.
However, if he loses the match for a week on Monday, his rule could become completely untenable. Forest is currently just one place above them in the league and supporters will not be kind to lose to their biggest rivals again, especially after being knocked out of the FA Cup by the Garibaldi earlier this year.
Sean Dyche and Thomas Frank are currently the two favorites to replace Rodgers if he gets his P45 – but any new manager will have to hold off for now with the Northern Irishman staying with the club after the international break.
